Microgrids haven’t yet hit it big in the U.S. electricity market, but with greater adoption, they have the potential to resolve reliability issues and potentially threaten utility business models.

Next week, Greentech Media is bringing together microgrid experts and energy leaders to discuss how the emergence of microgrids will impact the future of the U.S. electric grid.

Scott Clavenna, Greentech Media CEO, will facilitate the meeting as experts and participants define the microgrid market and discuss current enablers and obstacles. Conversations and analysis will be underpinned by GTM Research’s microgrid deployment and forecast data.

“We started the Grid Edge Executive Council because we are on the cusp of a major transition to a next-generation, distributed intelligent energy system,” said Rick Thompson, president and co-founder of Greentech Media. “We are looking forward to a lively discussion next week, as microgrids are an important part of the grid edge ecosystem."

Representatives from nearly twenty companies will converge in Boston on March 25. Participating companies include ERCOT, EPB, GE, Landis+Gyr, McKinsey & Company, and Northeast Utilities, among others.

The Grid Edge Executive Council meets eight times per year, covering grid modernization and distributed energy's biggest challenges and opportunities. Click here to learn more about the Grid Edge Executive Council.
