GTM: Official Webby Award Honoree

14th Annual Webby Awards nominees and honorees announced

We're proud to announce that Greentech Media has been selected as an Official Honoree for the Green category in the 14th annual Webby Awards. The Webby Awards are probably about as close as you can get to the Academy Awards for the Web. This year marked the first year that "Green" was a category. Obviously that's a very broad category and GTM is squarely focused on the business of green technologies, but we'll take it!

Primarily focused on websites, the Webby Awards take content quality, navigation structure, design, functionality, usability and other metrics into account for their selections. To that end, we're proud that we continue to develop a targeted, informative and useful website for our growing community of readers. According to an email from Webby Awards executive director, David-Michel Davies, "There were nearly 10,000 entries received from all 50 states and over 60 countries."

In the Green category, there were 5 nominees (like we said, it's broad, VERY broad) and 11 honorees:

Other notables up for Webby Awards this year include: U2, Jim Carrey, DJ Shadow, Digg, Flickr, Vimeo, CNet, TripAdvisor, Yelp, Twitter, Hulu, Walmart Soundcheck, The New York Times, The Onion, Sports Illustrated, Yahoo Sports, Mashable, Wired, TED, The New Yorker, Evian, Life, HBO, CNN, NPR, Nike, Starbucks, The Economist, National Geographic, MLB World Series, Sesame Street, WebMD, PBS Kids, Toyota Prius, Porsche Panamera, Engadget, HP, Intel (Sponsors of Tomorrow), Pandora, Pitchfork Media, Sundance Channel, Simply Hired, Mint.com, Trulia, Zillow, Aflac, Progressive, Lonely Planet, Tumblr, The Huffington Post, Census 2010, NASA, U.S. Air Force, MIT and Scientific American (see the full list of nominees and honorees).

The only downside in our eyes is that we're not the kingpin of the Green category. It's kind of like Forrest Gump beating out The Shawshank Redemption in the 1994 Academy Awards -- a crime. As Andy Dufresne once said, "How can you be so obtuse?"

In all seriousness, it's good company to be in and we thank you for all your support in helping to make Greentech Media a great information source on the web. We thoroughly enjoy waking up every day to deliver the best industry news, market research and focused technology conferences. Our website and our company is constantly evolving and we look forward to making it even better throughout the year and beyond.
