This week, Quanta Services announced that it has been selected as the engineering, procurement, and construction provider for the 20-megawatt Atwell Island solar farm in Tulare County, California. Solar Project Solutions, LLC (SPS), a joint venture between Samsung Green Repower and Enco Utility Services, is developing the project. Engineering is currently underway and construction is expected to begin by the end of the month.
A 25-year power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas & Electric was approved by the California Public Utilities Commission last November. Upon completion in August 2012, the project is expected to provide approximately 42,200 megawatt-hours of power into the grid annually.
SPS is currently developing four additional projects in California: Alpaugh North (20 megawatts), White River (20 megawatts), Alpaugh (50 megawatts) in Tulare County, and Corcoran (20 megawatts) in Kings County.
