New York, NY – February 28, 2018 - EnergyHub, the leading provider of connected device and distributed energy resource management software (DERMS) for utilities, and Sawnee EMC, the nation’s 9 th largest electric cooperative, are proud to announce the renewal of Sawnee’s Bring Your Own Thermostat® (BYOT) program called “Sawnee Smart Savers.” The program will enter its third season in 2018.

Sawnee EMC is renewing its partnership with EnergyHub after significant growth in enrollment and increased consumer interest in its BYOT program over the last two seasons.

“The intelligent dispatch capabilities within EnergyHub’s demand response software are vital to helping us control system peak and ultimately reduce cost,” said Michael A. Goodroe, President and CEO of Sawnee EMC. “EnergyHub’s Program Operations team continuously works closely with us to implement and execute a program that provides our members with the best possible experience.”

Sawnee includes thermostats from eight of the leading connected device companies in its program, taking full advantage of EnergyHub’s industry-leading device ecosystem. This strategy gives Sawnee’s members a wide range of options when choosing the thermostat that is best for them.

Sawnee uses EnergyHub’s Mercury DERMS to reduce load during critical peak hours, which affects the cost of providing electricity to its members. In 2017, Sawnee reduced load during all 10 of the system’s critical peak hours using Mercury.

In order to ensure it is delivering sustained load shed during each critical peak hour, Sawnee relies on the Mercury platform’s machine learning capabilities to create consistent load shed throughout demand response events. In addition to delivering optimal load shed during its peak demand hour, EnergyHub’s proprietary technology, Firm Load Dispatch, also improved member comfort during demand response events because of reduced control time.

“Sawnee is a great partner because they’re willing to use innovative technology, such as Firm Load Dispatch, in order to achieve their peak reduction goals while maximizing member comfort,” said Seth Frader-Thompson, President and Co-founder of EnergyHub. “It’s been a pleasure to work with Sawnee and watch their BYOT program grow over the past few years, and we’re looking forward to continuing the partnership.”

EnergyHub’s Mercury DERMS is used by more than 30 utilities across the United States to manage demand response, energy efficiency, and distributed energy resource (DER) programs. Combining sophisticated analytics with the largest ecosystem of connected device and DER partners in the industry, Mercury is the industry-leading platform for BYOT demand response and DER programs.
