Kristina Peterson has joined Brookfield Renewable Energy Group as SVP of solar development. BREG owns 7.3 gigawatts of renewable energy assets, 80 percent of it hydroelectric, and is part of Brookfield Asset Management, a global alternative asset manager with over $200 billion in assets under management. Peterson is a veteran in the solar business and was previously with Suntech, EDF Renewable Energy and Greenwood Biosar.
Eos Energy Storage added Donald Humphreys as VP of manufacturing and Jim Morgenson as VP of sales. Humphreys joins Eos "with over 35 years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale battery manufacturing facilities on four continents, beginning at Duracell and most recently at Aquion Energy." Morgenson joins Eos from SMA Solar Technology and Rockwell Automation. Eos claims to have received more than 8,000 megawatt-hours of "qualified preorders" for its battery system.
Channing Chen has left SunEdison to join NRG Energy as VP of structured finance for NRG's residential and commercial financing efforts.
8minutenergy Renewables, an independent solar developer, named Eric Larson VP of business development. Larson was previously COO for ACES Power Marketing. 8minutenergy develops, finances, engineers, builds and operates solar projects and has been awarded over 1,150 megawatts' worth of power-purchase agreements.
Micah Myers has been named as SVP of revenue at Clean Power Finance, now known as Elevate Power, after its merger with Kilowatt Financial.
CalCom Solar, a California-based solar provider serving agriculture and water districts, hired Andrew Hoffman, former manager of demand response at PG&E, as senior director of strategy and market development. The company also hired Rob Burkholder, former commercial finance manager at GE and at SPG Solar, to serve as director of financial planning and analysis.
Richard Brody is now director of sales and marketing at Lockheed Martin Advanced Energy Storage, which lists supercapacitors, lithium-ion batteries and flow batteries as part of its portfolio. Previously, Brody was VP of business development and sales at flow battery developer Primus Power.
Jennifer Wayman was promoted to commercial channel sales director at SolarCity. Lauren Ngan was promoted to product manager at First Solar. Jake Koerner was promoted to senior product line manager for residential at SunPower.
Gevo named Johannes Minho Roth to its board of directors. Roth is founder and CEO of FiveT Capital Holding, an asset management firm. Roth is also on the board of Plug Power. Ganesh Kishore, who joined the board in 2008, has resigned. Gevo aims to economically produce isobutanol, ethanol and animal feed.
Apana, developing automated water management for business, named the former CFO of Itron, Steve Helmbrecht, as an advisor to the firm.
