GTM Research, a leading market intelligence and consulting firm focused on the transformation of the global energy industry, and the Energy Storage Association (ESA), the U.S.-based trade association for the energy storage industry, are entering into a partnership to develop a series of quarterly reports offering analysis on energy storage markets, policy, and technology.

This collaboration will combine GTM Research’s experience in developing impactful market intelligence reports for the renewable energy sector with ESA’s depth of knowledge and expertise in the ever-evolving energy storage industry.  These reports will provide energy industry professionals, policymakers, government agencies and financiers with consistent, actionable insight into the burgeoning U.S. energy storage market.

“Markets and opportunities for energy storage are expanding rapidly,” said Matt Roberts, executive director of ESA. “Dynamic companies that have insight into markets and the regulatory environment are primed for considerable expansion. Our collaboration with GTM Research will help the energy industry identify and understand the opportunities that lie ahead.”

The joint quarterly reports will focus on energy storage markets, deployments, policies, regulations and financing in the U.S. The inaugural report will be issued in the first quarter of 2015 and cover the previous year, providing a rolling forecast of future growth.

“Energy storage is vital for the future of the grid, and we believe the market is on the cusp of a dramatic acceleration,” said Shayle Kann, senior vice president at GTM Research. “Our partnership with ESA will provide the storage industry with much-needed market intelligence and data to support the growth of energy storage in all sectors.”

Through its Grid Edge practice, GTM Research has published hundreds of pages of research on grid-scale and distributed energy storage. This new partnership will immediately position GTM Research and ESA as leaders in U.S. energy storage research and analysis.
