Since 2012, Mr. Arelle has been the President and Co-Founder of ILIOSS, Mexico’s largest commercial solar provider. He has helped grow ILIOSS from a three person team into an established brand in the Mexican energy industry, eventually leading to its acquisition by SolarCity in August 2015. Mr. Arelle remains President of SolarCity ILIOSS, heading the first international expansion by America’s number one solar provider. He previously served as President of Camara Nacional de la Vivienda, where he led several community and social projects and participated as Member of the Board of different private and public organizations. He has been awarded several distinctions, including General Motors' Award to the Best Supplier of the Year Worldwide in 1997, the National Housing Award from the Government of Mexico in 2002, and the Premio Nacional de Obras CEMEX for the best housing project of the year in 2006.
Edgar has been investing in solar energy since 2009, leading the execution of over $1.5B in transactions with businesses, utilities, and governments.
At Sonnedix, he is responsible for business development, focused on acquiring and investing in solar assets in development, construction and in operation.
Sonnedix is a leading global solar independent power producer (IPP) backed by JP Morgan’s Infrastructure Investment Fund, focused on owning and operating assets long-term in attractive growth markets. Sonnedix owns interest in over 1GW of assets across North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Prior to Sonnedix, Edgar was Head of Latin America at sPower, a leading U.S. solar IPP. Previous to that, he was Head of Power Markets & Strategy at Gestamp Solar, a multinational European solar energy company.
Mr. Arvizu has a background in technology start-ups, venture capital and biotechnology banking from Silicon Valley. He holds an MBA from Cornell University as a merit scholar and a BS in Finance from SDSU.
Karin Berardo, leads emerging market solar business development and operations, and also financing solutions for M+W Group’s solar activities worldwide. Prior to M+W, Ms. Berardo founded SIRES Advisors, where she drew on over 20 years of experience in structured finance, fund management, organizational management and policy to provide financing solutions to clients in the renewable energy, water and sustainable agriculture sectors. Ms. Berardo also co-founded CleanPath Ventures, where she raised capital for and managed a development equity fund to bring 10 MW of utility and commercial projects to the US market; and she spent 10 years at real estate and renewable energy company MuniMae, where she was instrumental in closing over $500 million in institutional investment funds in the US, Africa and the Middle East, while also working in Structured Finance, Financial Risk Management and Corporate Planning. Ms. Berardo holds a Masters in Public Policy, an International Masters of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies, all from the University of Chicago.
Dr. Stefan Blum is Managing Director of DEG’s Representative Office in Mexico. DEG is part of KfW Group, in turn owned by the German state and with assets of almost 500 bn EUR one of the largest development banks in the world. With its office in Mexico City celebrating its 12th anniversary this year, DEG offers long-term financing via equity, mezzanine and senior loans. Key sectors include infrastructure, (renewable) energy, manufacturing, agro-industry, financial sector and private equity. Stefan has 10 years of experience in project and development finance. Prior to his assignment in Mexico, he has been with DEG’s Manufacturing Industry/Services Department, covering a wide range of sectors. He studied Economics and Business Administration and holds a Doctoral Degree in Economics. From 1994 to 1996, he worked for a social project in Tijuana/Mexico.
A native of Madrid, Spain, Eduardo Casilda has had a distinguished career with a track record of strong leadership both inside and outside of the PV Solar industry. He joined KACO new energy in October of 2006 as Sales Director for KACO International and later took a position as CEO for KACO Iberian. During this time, he facilitated the successful introduction of KACO in in Southern Europe. When KACO new energy, Inc. relocated its Americas Headquarters to San Antonio, TX, Eduardo moved to the US as Sales Director for the LATAM and Caribbean region. Following his success in this region he was also given responsibility for Sales and Project Management of the Utility Scale Project Business. He has since had a key role in driving KACO’s notable success in large scale power plants as well as emerging markets throughout the Americas. Before joining KACO new energy, Eduardo Casilda gathered experience as Service Engineer and Trainer in the automatization industry in Germany. He particularly managed several successful projects for Germany-based Siemens. Mr. Casilda holds an Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Germany’s Technological School and Technical University Bergkamen/Bochum and completed Master Degree Program at the EIO Madrid School of Business, focusing on expanding business’s internationally.
Álvaro del Río Garcia has been involved in the energy sector for nearly 7 years with a strong background in the PV technical area, strategic planning and international business expansion. Mr. del Río Garcia manages all aspects of Gestamp Solar business and development in Mexico as the Head of the Mexican subsidiary. Prior to this, he worked as Managing Director in Martifer Solar Mexico, one of the major milestones achieved during his time in this position has been the completion of the 38.7 MW Aura Solar plant in La Paz, Mexico. Mr. del Río Garcia holds a Master degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Renewables and Environment from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He is fluent in Spanish, English and German with a working proficiency in the Portuguese language.
Arturo's passion has been clean and cost effective energy solutions that can help ensure the future of our planet. In 2008 by the age of 18 installed his first PV grid tied system, which would become one of the first 5 systems installed in Mexico.
In 2011 created Ecotiza, to help optimize his installation business practices, creating the first solar software proposal tools in the Mexican Market.
Today he is a co-founder in Sunwise a SaaS platform designed to combine functions that optimize, simplify and control a Solar PV Mexican business.
Also co-founded ExelSolar, Mexico’s leading PV products and solutions wholesaler.

Hector Garcia has nearly ten years of international experience in engineering, project development and management within the solar industry. In his current position as Branch Manager for Mexico, he leads all aspects of business and development for Martifer Solar in the Mexican market. Before his current role, Hector worked as the Business Development Manager for Martifer Solar, responsible for all development efforts in South America. Prior to this, Hector worked as an International Project Developer for Würth Solar GmbH, responsible for the markets of Spain, Italy and Mexico. He holds a MSC in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Europea de Madrid and a Master in Energy Law from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid. Hector is fluent in Spanish, English and has a working knowledge of the Portuguese language.
Marco Garcia has over 25 years of sales management and international business development experience. He has developed and closed scores of landmark PV projects in the U.S. and Europe, including some of the world’s largest solar power plants. His tenure in the solar industry includes sales leadership positions at PowerLight, SunPower, Suntech, and Suniva. As Suniva CCO, he spearheaded the shift in their sales approach from high efficiency cells to Suniva-branded high efficiency modules. As Chief Commercial Officer at NEXTracker since 2014, Marco and his team are responsible for closing approximately 5GW in tracker sales worldwide. Marco Garcia holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Economics from Brown University.
Carlos is primarily responsible for sourcing and managing assets in the energy generation and electricity transmission sectors. Carlos joined Macquarie in 2012, where he had several roles in the Investment Banking division (Macquarie Capital), and more recently in the Funds Group (MIRA). Carlos has developed his expertise in infrastructure across Latin America, participating mainly in Power, Telecom, and Social Infrastructure transactions across Mexico, Chile, Brazil, and Peru. Previously, Carlos worked as a management consultant at Accenture, consolidating finance processes upon the completion of M&A transactions for Telecom and Transportation companies. Carlos has broad international experience working in markets across Europe, India, South Africa, and the US. Carlos holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from ULPGC University in Spain, and a MBA from Columbia University in New York.
Nico Johnson is a solar sales and marketing veteran with over a decade of experience developing projects and territories for internationally recognized organizations, and has become an expert on the Latin America market. In his previous roles with Conergy & Trina, he was responsible for developing the regional market strategy and channels, with a focus on utility-scale downstream development and deployment. Nico's popular podcast, SunCast, has become the go-to medium for those interested in better understanding how to grow as a leader and producer in the Latin America region. And, his fluency in Spanish has been a key contributor to his success in the region.
An experienced renewable energy financial modeler, Mr. Lee joined BVR after serving as senior analyst for energy at the North American Development Bank (NADB), where he closed 15 deals in less than three years. Prior to the NADB, Mr. Lee worked in corporate finance in Shanghai for two years. An expert in financially structuring bankable renewable energy deals, Mr. Lee holds a BS from Purdue University as well as an MS in finance from Boston College.
As Sr. Director of Business Development & Sales, Alejo Lopez leads NEXTracker’s business development and sales team for Mexico and Latin America. Alejo is an expert in the Latin American energy markets where he has worked extensively for over a decade. Prior to joining NEXTracker in 2016, Alejo held the post of Country Manager for Hanwha Q CELLS in Mexico, with primary responsibilities of project development, M&A and PPA sales. Alejo was also a key member of Siliken USA Distributed Generation managing project development and structured finance after working as an advisor with cutting-edge clean-tech ventures including Combined Power, ElectraDrive and others in Silicon Valley.
Alejo, a native of Argentina, started his career running large numerical models, fracking wells and poking at the Earth in what he calls being a Reservoir Engineer in Patagonia. He left the dark side after 6 years to pursue an MBA in Finance at the University of San Francisco where he graduated with honors. Alejo also holds an MSe in Petroleum Engineering from UNC Argentina and currently lives in Mexico City.
Mr. Lou Marrero is a sales professional with over 22 years of successful executive sales and sales management experience, currently leading Trina’s Channel sales in North America, Latin America and Caribbean. Prior to joining Trina Solar, Lou Marrero worked at Kyocera where he led the U.S. distribution sales force and Latin American sales team, growing sales, building and motivating the sales organization, and reinforcing brand strategy
Donaji Martinez has collaborated in private and public companies in the energy sector in Mexico as: Regulatory Energy Commission (CRE), BIMBO, AMDA, Energías Renovables del Istmo and other energy enterprises as adviser.
As business development manager in ACCIONA Energy Mexico, she is responsible on management of new business opportunities to renewable development including WIND and SOLAR projects.
Michael Maulick is President and CEO of SunLink Corporation, a leading provider of commercial photovoltaic mounting solutions proven in over 500MW of commercial projects at 2,000+ sites across North America. He has been the CEO of three international technology companies, had a 20-plus year career at IBM and has served on Private and Public Boards, most notably as Independent Director for the IPO of Rackable Systems. Michael has arranged almost $200M of financial backing and completed multiple M&A activities. Prior to SunLink, he served as Managing Director of Maulick Capital, an investment and consulting firm he founded in January 2009.
Mr. Mills has more than fifteen years experience in the renewable energy and photovoltaic (PV) industries. He has comprehensive experience in all segments of the solar industry, from system integration through distribution to manufacturing and strategic new business development. In addition to CEO of eSun Energy, he currently is a photovoltaic industry consultant with clients throughout Latin America and the US who are involved in all levels of the value chain. Jsun is an international PV instructor and course coordinator for the renowned renewable energy training organizations Solar Energy International and the International Renewable Resources Institute. He has trained over 800 professionals in PV and has personally worked with hundreds of solar businesses on thousands of projects throughout his career. His skills have proven to be invaluable to clients such as SMA America where he developed the first nationwide manufacturer based technical sales and technical training program to successfully expand the nascent grid connected PV system market in California and other key emerging US states. Jsun brings intelligent vision, entrepreneurial experience, keen business sense and technical expertise to every endeavor. With education in both business and environmental sciences, he clearly understands the bottom lines of profitability and taking the leadership role in promoting environmental responsibility in the marketplace.
Luis leads Enphase’s commercialization efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean, and has over 20 years of experience in global sales management, business development and engineering in the solar and semiconductor industries. Prior to joining Enphase in 2010, he held a number of global executive sales leadership roles at various Silicon Valley startups, including Neoconix and Certess. He also worked at Cadence Design System and Verisity in major account management roles. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University and has received executive training in project finance at Stanford University.
Marian Aguirre Nienau is an Economist and has a Masters Degree in Financing and Economics with the Universitat de Catalunya, currently she works as Head of Power Projects at the Banco Nacional de Comercio Exterior, S.N.C. (BANCOMEXT) which is a foreign trade development bank owned by the Mexican Government. A good deal of her past and current work is focused in the financing of power and sustainable projects. Marian’s work is based in the financing of projects throughout project finance, structured finance and guarantees, among other financial schemes. Some of her recent work in Bancomext includes the structuring of wind farm projects, hydropower plants, combined cycles, biogas and photovoltaic parks.
Rogelio Nochebuena is a Principal for Servicios Ambientales de Baja California/Encap Development a collaborative venture for the development of solar and other clean energy projects with offices in Mexico and New York City.
A multi-talented engineering and business executive with more than 20 years of expertise in semiconductors, opto-electronics, solar energy; during his tenure at Xerox PARC he was member of a team that developed novel CPV technology, later licensed by SolarFocus and served as the base for their entry into the market. He also worked with LPI (Light Prescription Innovations) an Altadena, CA company that developed a very efficient CPV technology capable to deliver more than 33% efficiency using Fresnel-Koeller optics.
He collaborated with the Lawrence Livermore National Lab in the development of thin-film deposition of Nanolaminates used in Super-Capacitors for energy storage
He held senior technical and managerial roles at Agilent Technologies, Xerox PARC, Xerox in the USA and served as COO for Grupo Evoasis and V P of Operations at Envolta in Mexico. He has expertise with design software: SPICE for electronics and PVSYS, PolySun & PVSOL for solar.
Mr. Nochebuena has a BSEE and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University; and holds a MBA from Pepperdine University.
He has spoken in a number of panels in local and international seminars and conferences including The Material Research Society (MRS); MIREC 2015 and IEEE, he is member of the Executive Committee for the Calteh Entrepreneurs’ Forum (formerly Caltech/MIT Enterprise Forum) and held the position of Chapter Vice-Chair for the IEEE Laser and Electro-Optics Society Los Angeles Chapter. He was an Adjunct Professor of Business Strategy at Pepperdine University at its Malibu, CA campus.

Since 2004, Hector Olea is President and CEO of Gauss, a business development firm specialized in the energy sector. Gauss activities are focused in the identification, development and structuring investment opportunities in renewable energy projects, which accounts for more than US$700 million in greenfield projects. Before, he acted as CEO of Suez in Mexico, where he led its transformation into a nationwide energy company. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Olea acted as Chairman of the Mexican Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). He is President of the Asociación Mexicana de Energía Solar Fotovoltaica (Asolmex) and Chairman of the Mexican Section of the Mexico-US Business Energy Council. He is an economist from ITAM (Mexico) and an earned his Master and PhD in Economics at Rice University (US). In 1989, he was distinguished with the Banamex Economics Award.

Pablo Otin is the CEO and co-founder of POWERTIS, a utility-scale solar developer aiming to lead the transaction to corporate PPA and bilateral markets in selected EU and Latin America markets. Pablo’s professional background includes developing of 2+ GW of renewable projects in EU and the US, as well as pioneering solar development in several countries in Latin America and Southeast Asia. Pablo garners extensive experience in the renewables industry –including greenfield development, M&A, finance or operations, and a proven track record in building platforms across multiple regions.
Robert Powell is CEO and Founder of Envolta, a company dedicated to the development, construction and financing of turn-key solar PV installations in Mexico since 2012. Envolta has recently been recognised by GTM Research as the leading third-party financier of distributed generation in the country. Previously, Rob was CEO and Founder of Verde Energy, a solar lead generation and finance company serving US solar customers.
Mr. Esaúl Ramírez is part of the Project Finance team and currently serves as Analysis and Structuring Officer at the North American Development Bank (NADB). Mr. Ramírez has nearly fifteen years of experience in the energy sector, having spent the last five years working on renewable energy (primarily solar and wind) transactions at NADB and nearly a decade working in various areas of energy-holding company PNM Resources of New Mexico and its various subsidiaries. During his tenure at NADB, Mr. Ramírez has co-led the financial closing of well over a gigawatt worth of solar and wind energy transactions and is currently working on an equally sizeable pipeline of renewable energy and other energy transactions. Mr. Ramírez earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Summa Cum Laude, and received his M.B.A. in Finance and International Management from the University of New Mexico.
As the President and CEO of Shoals Technologies Group, Dean Solon is responsible for running all facets of the business. Dean has a proven executive management track record and over 20 years of experience driving sales and technological growth in the solar industry. Dean founded Shoals in 1996 with partners and in the year 2000, bought all their shares in the business and changed the course of Shoals from manufacturing for the automotive industry to the solar industry. While solar was in it’s infancy, Dean saw an opportunity to bring his extensive automotive knowledge and experience to a fledgling industry. Prior to the founding of Shoals, Dean worked in technical sales at multiple automotive tier one and tier two companies. During that time, Bosch Automotive approached Dean with a request for him to start his own manufacturing business and become their sole vendor for automotive brush cards. This request was the catalyst for Dean to found Shoals Technologies Group and supply Bosch Mexico with product for many years. Dean attended college at Purdue University in 1988 and studied mechanical engineering.
Santiago Valdez is Co-Founder and CFO at Galt Energy, a Monterrey, Mexico based EPC that offers financing and leasing solutions to its residential and commercial clients. Santiago holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University. Prior to founding Galt Energy, Santiago worked as a Business Analyst at management consulting firm McKinsey & Co for 2 years. In 2013, he co-founded Galt Energy and has since led its growth to become a national player in the solar distributed generation market in Mexico, especially focused on introducing innovating financial solutions for its client portfolio.
Howard Wenger serves as SunPower president, business units, with global responsibility for the company’s residential, commercial and utility power plant business. He is currently focused on leading the company’s evolution to become a customer-centric energy company, combining distributed generation and energy services. Wenger also serves as president of SunPower Corporation, Systems, the company’s turn-key power systems group. Previously, he was executive vice president and a member of the board of PowerLight Corporation, which was acquired by SunPower, and he held management positions at PG&E, AstroPower and Pacific Energy Group, a company he co-founded. Wenger is passionate about making the sun the leading source of energy globally. He has worked for more than 30 years in the solar and utility power field, authored dozens of papers and public policies to mainstream solar, and developed software programs and tools that are still used today to design and engineer solar power systems. Wenger holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.S. in Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and currently serves as a board member of Advanced Energy Economy.
José Zambrano is President and CEO at Galt Energy, Mexico's leading residential and small commercial solar developer. In the four years since its founding, José has led Galt Energy to more than 1,000 residential and small commercial systems amounting to more than 5 MW of installations, of which 30% have been financed through its own fund. José is board member of the Energy Cluster for the state of Nuevo León and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas.
MJ Shiao currently serves as the Director of Community Solar at Arcadia Power, where he works to connect residential customers with community solar projects developed by Arcadia Power's partners. Before Arcadia, MJ held various positions at Greentech Media and Wood Mackenzie, including leading GTM Research, a 30-person team tracking, analyzing and forecasting the evolution of the solar, energy storage and grid edge industries. MJ is a leading expert in the transformation of the electricity sector. He has spoken at numerous conferences, testified in front of the U.S. International Trade Commission on solar trade issues and quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg and Buzzfeed. Before joining GTM Research, MJ managed and designed several MWs of residential and commercial PV projects. He holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware, where he was named a National Truman Scholar. A believer in the social benefits of solar power, MJ has also researched, installed and tested rural off-grid PV in India and Thailand.
Mohit Anand is a Senior Analyst at GTM research focusing on the global solar upstream market. With previous experience covering the demand dynamics and downstream procurement strategies in emerging markets like India, Mohit analyzes the competitive forces and sales growth criteria that determine the success of module manufacturers globally. Before joining GTM, he participated in the early stages of growth of the Indian solar industry by setting up a solar market intelligence team, advising project developers on new solar business models, and consulting international companies on their market success strategies. Mohit holds a BA in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, a Master in International Studies from the National University of Singapore, and a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
